What people emojis are used for
The base human figures, before any job, activity or gesture is attached. They mostly appear inside longer sequences, but on their own they cover life stages: baby, child, adult, older adult. Gender-neutral 🧒, 🧑 and 🧓 were added in 2017 alongside the existing man and woman forms rather than replacing them.
