Contact us

EmojiDB is a small project, and there is a person on the other end of this address. Write in English and we will reply.

We aim to reply within a few working days. Including the page URL you are writing about saves a round trip.

Or use the form

Same inbox, fewer decisions about what to write. The form is hosted by Google β€” seewhat happens to what you send below if you would rather not involve them.

What to write about

What happens to what you send

Worth being straight about. Every page here is a static file, and the only third-party code on the site is Google Analytics, which counts page views and is described in our Privacy Policy. Your searches are not part of that β€” they run in your browser and are never sent anywhere.

The form above is the exception. It is a Google Form in an iframe, because a form we hosted ourselves would need the server and the database this site deliberately does not have. When it loads, Google may set cookies and will see your IP address and browser details, the same as if you had opened the form on Google's own site. What you type goes to Google and reaches us through them.

If you would rather Google were not involved, email us instead β€” it reaches the same place. Either way, our Privacy Policy sets out what we hold, which is nothing you did not choose to send.

Before you write

Two things we are asked often enough to answer here. Why does an emoji look different on my phone? Because your device draws it, not us β€” the same character is drawn by Apple, Google, Microsoft and Samsung in their own way. Why is an emoji a grey box? Because that character is newer than the fonts installed on your device; it will appear when the device updates.
