Privacy Policy

EmojiDB (emojidb.cc) is designed to be usable without giving us any personal information. This policy explains, in plain language, what data is processed when you use the site.

What we don't collect

• No accounts, no sign-ups, no email addresses.
• No advertising trackers, and nothing that follows you to other sites. We do use Google Analytics, which sets cookies — see Analytics below.
• Your searches never leave your device — the emoji search index is downloaded to your browser and matching happens locally.

Local storage

The site stores two preferences in your browser's local storage (never sent to a server): your light/dark theme choice and your recently copied emojis, so they are one click away when you return. You can clear both at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Hosting & logs

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard connection data (IP address, user agent, requested URL) in short-lived server logs for security and performance purposes. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people reach and which ones fail them — whether the symbol pages are being found at all, whether a collection is worth expanding. It records page views, approximate location from your IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived. It sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit from another.

We do not send it your searches, and we have not asked Google to link this data to anything else. It is aggregate reporting, not a profile of you. What Google itself does with the data is set out in their privacy policy. If you would rather not be counted, a browser-level content blocker or Google's own opt-out add-on will stop it, and nothing on this site will stop working.

Third-party content

Emoji glyphs are rendered by your own device's fonts. We embed no third-party images, no fonts from external CDNs and no social-media widgets. The only third-party code here is the analytics above and the contact form below.

The contact form

The contact page embeds a Google Form, because a form we hosted ourselves would need the server and database this site does not have. That embed belongs to Google: when it loads, Google may set cookies and will receive your IP address and browser details, exactly as if you had opened the form on Google's own site. Anything you submit goes to Google and reaches us through them, underGoogle's privacy policy rather than this one.

It loads on that one page and nowhere else. If you would rather not involve Google, the same page carries an email address that reaches us directly.
